Date:
June 1, 2024

Citroën will participate in TIMISOARA AUTO EXPO 2024, the main new car fair held in western Romania. The event will take place at Shopping City Timișoara on June 08-09, 2024.

Whether you are a natural person or a legal entity, the Mega Group dealer is waiting for you at the fair to present their new Peugeot models.

Citroën is currently one of the most important car manufacturers in France and even in the world, with a rich history that has marked not only the industry it represents, but also society, and has established itself in the collective mind as a synonym of French elegance.

Founded in 1919 by the French industrialist André-Gustave Citroën, the company had a special destiny, placing itself, for over 100 years, under the sign of innovation.

The story of the brand begins with André Citroën, a visionary considered brilliant, of impressive dynamism and moral strength, who will revolutionize the automobile, industry, and advertising in France and Europe.

In 1915, he built a munitions factory whose production of shells reached 55,000 per day. At the end of the war, in 1919, Citroën decided to transform this factory into an automobile factory.

Inspired by his many trips to the United States, where he met Henry Ford, who was already producing the famous Ford Model T, André Citroën wants to turn his passion for cars into a successful business. His main objective, at that time, was to build a series car and transform the automobile into an object of everyday life.

Citroën's innovations in the automotive world and beyond were numerous and fully appreciated. In 1921, he built tracked cars that could be driven over any terrain. Starting in 1924, he restructured the entire fleet of taxis in Paris, organized a rapid network of coach transport in the suburbs and nearby cities, and established branches of his company throughout Europe. His ingenuity surpassed machines. André Citroën published numerous catalogs and brochures dedicated to cars, but he also knew how to charm the hearts of children, reproducing his cars as toys.

Citroën also financed various scientific expeditions, including one that drove 13,000 km from Beirut to Beijing (1931–1932). The lighting of the Arc de Triomphe and the Concorde Square in Paris were gifts made by Citroën to the French capital and all its visitors.

For exceptional service in favor of civilization and world progress, in 1931, the French government awarded André Citroen the insignia of Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor, one of the most important distinctions of the Hexagon.

Citroën has built an automotive heritage from 1919 to the present day. This heritage is honored by the Conservatoire of Aulnay-sous-Bois, a museum that houses one of the largest vehicle collections in the world, with more than 400 historic models.

Since 1976, it has been part of the PSA Peugeot-Citroën Group.
