Computer Accessories Exports by Country

Globally, computer accessories exports by country totaled US$124 billion in 2017.

That dollar amount reflects -3.5% drop for all computer accessories shippers over the five-year period starting in 2013 when computer accessories shipments were valued at $128.5 billion. Year over year, the overall value of computer accessories exports increased by 14.3% from 2016 to 2017.

From a continental perspective, Asian countries generated the highest dollar worth of exported computer accessories during 2017 with shipments valued at $86.5 billion or more than two-thirds (69.7%) of the global total. In second place were European exporters at 15.7% while 14.2% of worldwide computer accessories shipments originated from North America.

Smaller percentages trace back to Oceania (0.2%), Latin America excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean (0.06%) and Africa (0.05%).

The 4-digit Harmonized Tariff System code prefix is 8473 for computer parts and accessories other than covers and carrying cases.

By value, the listed 15 countries shipped 93.6% of total exported computer accessories in 2017.

Among the top exporters, the fastest-growing computer accessories exporters since 2013 were: Vietnam (up 327.8%), South Korea (up 70.3%), Germany (up 43%) and Mexico (up 27.5%).

Those countries that posted declines in their exported computer accessories sales were led by: Malaysia (down -51.2%), Singapore (down -36.1%), Philippines (down -35.5%), Thailand (down -27.1%) and Japan (down -23.6%).

The People’s Republic of China has the highest surplus in the international trade of computer accessories. In turn, this positive cashflow confirms strong Chinese competitive advantage for this specific product category.

Overtaking Mexico in 2017, the United States of America incurred the highest deficit in the international trade of computer accessories. In turn, this negative cashflow highlights America’s competitive disadvantage for this specific product category but also signals opportunities for computer accessories-supplying countries that help satisfy the powerful demand.
