Timișoara, April 7, 2021. The technology company Continental has purchased a new building that includes the production hall and offices located on Otto Rudolf Street, in the Freidorf Timișoara Industrial Park. This will help expand the internal supply chain and infrastructure and can now better optimize and harmonize internal processes related to storage, local production and intralogistics. It will also introduce into production new assortments of items for industries other than automotive.

"In the last 10 years of operation, Continental has invested over 50 million euros in our air conditioning and transmission belt factory in which it has created a large number of jobs. We are constantly investing in technology in order to "In addition, we promote the development of new environmental protection technologies, as well as ergonomics," says Irina Szekeres, General Manager of ContiTech in Timisoara.

In Timisoara, the company has two production units. One produces aluminum ducts for air conditioning systems, and the other produces transmission belts. The range of air conditioning ducts includes high and low pressure air conditioning ducts, air conditioning ducts with integrated heat exchanger and aluminum tubing used to cool the batteries. The activity of the timing belt transmission industry was mainly focused on belts sold on the spare parts market (car service), such as CONTI® UNIPOWER TOUGH GRIP multi-weight belts with very high stability in terms of misalignment, moisture and cold starts and CONTI® UNIPOWER ECO₂-FLEX, highly flexible belts for increased efficiency, low fuel consumption and low CO₂ emissions.

Continental transfers part of its development activities to Timișoara in a future-oriented competence center, as well as in a research and development center, where thermal management solutions are created for car manufacturers. The competence center currently set up serves producers in Eastern Europe and beyond. Together with the new regional research and development center, it offers resources, equipment and the opportunity to develop innovative products, create and test new products, processes and technologies. The centers include a testing laboratory, a prototype workshop, simulation possibilities and experts in different types of materials that help to innovate products for the market.

Currently, the air conditioning and transmission belt factory in Timișoara offers a large number of jobs and covers almost 70,000 square meters of production halls. Continental annually produces about 17 million belts and about 9 million air conditioners for cars, industrial and commercial vehicles sold in Europe, Asia and America. Since its opening until now, the location in Timișoara has delivered a total of over 163 million transmission and distribution belts and over 128 million components for air conditioning systems.
