The parcel delivery group Sameday said it has operationalised a new logistics hub in the central city of Ghimbav, Brasov county, in which it has invested 21 million lei ($4.6 million/4.2 million euro).

Sameday said in a press release that the logistics center spans 6,800 sq m and is located on a 10,000 sq m land plot within the Sofimat Logistic Park Ghimbav.

The new facility is equipped with technologies for sorting small and medium-sized parcels, including an automated sorter which can handle up to 7,000 parcels weighing up to 20 kilograms per hour. The center also has a manual belt for atypical parcels, which reaches a capacity of up to 1,200 parcels per hour. The centre was able to process 49,000 parcels on its busiest day, as per the press release. It serves, through direct flights, 22 local Sameday agencies located mainly in the eastern part of the country.

Bucharest-based Delivery Solutions, operating under the Sameday brand, specialises in the retail of non-food products and fashion and second-hand items, as well as food delivery, marketing intermediation and parcel delivery services. Since 2017, it has been part of local online retail group eMAG.

"In the context in which the volume of deliveries made by the courier company in these counties increased by over 28% at the end of last year, compared to the same period in 2023, Sameday has invested over 21 million lei in the new operational hub, with the objective of streamlining logistics processes and improving the delivery experience," the company said.
