VOLVO has announced its participation in TIMISOARA AUTO EXPO 2024, the main new car fair in western Romania. The event will take place at Shopping City Timișoara on June 08-09, 2024.
Beating a competitive field of nominees, the Volvo EX30 has been named the 2024 World City Car of the Year. The announcement was made at a presentation held at the New York International Auto Show.
The smallest Volvo SUV ever created was also a grand finalist in the 38-car competition.
The EX30 was unveiled last summer to almost universal acclaim and has already won several major awards. It is Car of the Year according to The Sun newspaper. It has the Small SUV/Crossover of the Year award from the Sunday Times and the Eco Warrior of the Year award from Top Gear.
As such, the EX30 is a strong addition to Volvo's product portfolio, which also contains some very attractive plug-in and mild hybrid models in several segments. These cars are an important bridge towards Volvo Cars' ambition to sell only electric cars by 2030.

2024 Volvo Models
The 2024 Volvo range of vehicles has received some exciting new members for the 2024 model year, along with updates to its existing range of iconic vehicles. The new Volvo EX30 and Volvo EX90 are highly anticipated major steps toward an electric future, and the revisions to current models mean they'll offer even better value to drivers.
The current Volvo SUV range includes the Volvo XC40, Volvo XC60, and Volvo XC90. Each is available as a mild-hybrid vehicle and as a plug-in hybrid or all-electric model. 2024 brings the debut of the Volvo EX30 and Volvo EX90, two all-electric SUVs that take the automaker further ahead of the pack.
The range of available sizes allows motorists to find an SUV that suits their needs.
2024 Volvo XC40
The B4 FWD powertrain is no longer available on the mild hybrid 2024 model. Instead, drivers will be treated to the B5 AWD configuration on the Volvo XC40. Since this setup pairs a 48-volt mild-hybrid system with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, we don't see this as a bad thing. The car gets standard wireless phone charging and keyless entry for the new model year.
The Volvo XC40 Recharge gets a new single-motor all-electric powertrain option that makes 248 horsepower. The 402-horsepower all-wheel-drive Dual Motor configuration will benefit from a greater driving range. This move toward more all-electric options makes sense given Volvo Cars' emphasis on electrification.
2024 Volvo XC60
Like the Volvo XC40, the Volvo XC60 has fewer powertrain options for the new model year. The car is available with the B5 AWD setup and the T8 eAWD plug-in hybrid powertrains exclusively. These two options allow drivers to choose between a mild hybrid's convenience and a plug-in hybrid's efficiency. The vehicle boasts new features on the Plus and Ultimate trims and a new exterior paint option.
2024 Volvo XC90
We do not expect major changes to the new Volvo XC90. The vehicle is no longer available with the Dark exterior theme, which adds glossy black exterior decor. Drivers can, however, still enjoy the shining chrome of the Bright exterior theme. The Ultimate trim gains laminated side windows and optional 22-inch wheels and paired tires.
The 2024 Volvo Sedan and Wagon Lineup
Volvo sedans and wagons are sleek, efficient, and spacious. The station wagon is a classic American design; we're pleased that Volvo Cars has decided to continue producing vehicles in this style. The Volvo V60 and Volvo V90 are largely unchanged for the 2024 model year, though they do gain access to the new 2024 Volvo colors. The new choice is Vapour Grey Metallic, with Thunder Grey Metallic and Black Stone removed from the range.
The Volvo S60 executive sedan and its larger counterpart, the Volvo S90, also enter the 2024 model year without major changes. They receive access to the new Vapour Grey Metallic paint option and lose the aforementioned choices. However, the Volvo S90 Recharge, the plug-in hybrid model, is now available in the Plus trim. Previously, it was only found with the Ultimate trim; now there's a more affordable choice. The Volvo S60 Recharge Polestar Engineered trim option does not return in the 2024 Volvo lineup.
New 2024 Volvo Electric Vehicles
This is an important year: The 2024 Volvo range includes two brand-new vehicles: the Volvo EX30 and the Volvo EX90. These sit on the outside edges of the SUV size options: the Volvo EX30 will be a subcompact all-electric SUV, while the Volvo EX90 boasts three rows of seating and space for up to seven occupants. The Volvo 2024 new models offer awe-inspiring performance, incredible driving range, and cutting-edge luxury features.
The Volvo EX30 is expected to reach drivers and dealerships in the first half of the year, while the Volvo EX90 will be available in the second half of 2024.
