Schaeffler and Neura Robotics, a high-tech leader in cognitive robotics, have established a pioneering technology partnership. The collaboration focuses on developing and supplying key components—such as advanced actuators—for humanoid robots. In addition, Schaeffler plans to deploy Neura’s humanoid robots across its global production network, integrating a mid-four-digit number of units into its operations by 2035. Schaeffler is also working with other leading manufacturers in this field.

Through this partnership, Neura Robotics secures a major share of its demand for compact, lightweight actuators capable of continuous operation. Both companies will generate valuable real-world application data, essential for training humanoid robots. This data will feed into the Neuraverse—a global cognitive ecosystem that interconnects physical AI systems, enabling them to learn faster and continuously enhance robotic capabilities.

A central element of the partnership is the joint collection and utilization of production data, which forms the foundation for developing the robotic skills required in future manufacturing environments. Advanced systems will capture motion and interaction data from production processes to train AI models. This enables humanoid robots to systematically learn specific tasks and continuously improve their performance. Through this collaboration, Schaeffler gains new capabilities based on real-world data while the Neuraverse database expands in scope and intelligence.

Schaeffler will also contribute its extensive expertise in planetary gear actuator development—components used in robot joints that perform precise rotational movements, such as shoulders, elbows, knees, and wrists. Despite their compact and lightweight design, these actuators are engineered for maximum torque and continuous operation. Schaeffler’s actuator portfolio for humanoids offers torque outputs of up to 250 Nm, allowing humanoid models such as 4NE1 to handle even heavy loads with ease.

Andreas Schick, Chief Operating Officer of Schaeffler AG, stated:

“Humanoid robotics is a key growth area for Schaeffler, and Neura is among Europe’s most innovative companies. This collaboration reinforces our role as a preferred technology partner in the sector. Schaeffler brings decades of product and industrialization expertise to the table. By strategically combining our strengths, we not only enhance our own competitiveness but also set new benchmarks for Germany as a technology hub.”

David Reger, CEO and founder of Neura Robotics, added:

“By partnering with Schaeffler—one of Germany’s largest and most experienced industrial companies—we demonstrate that future technologies must be actively advanced, not awaited. This proactive spirit once made the German automotive industry a world leader alongside the automation sector. Together, we are driving the industrialization of humanoids and, most importantly, creating what will make them viable at scale: a global ecosystem for Physical AI built on an independent European data foundation.”
