The energy price index fell by 4.4% in May, driven by declines in U.S. natural gas (-8.4%) and crude oil (-4.8%).
Food prices dropped by 1.9%, while raw materials inched up 0.7% and beverages increased by 4.9%.
Metal and precious metal prices gained 2.7% each.

Silicon photonics use light — photons — to transmit data, offering a faster and more efficient alternative to traditional electrical communication. AMD and other chipmakers have shown an increasing interest in the tech. Late last year, AMD reportedly teamed up with several Taiwan startups for a silicon photonics R&D collaboration.

FORVIA HELLA will develope and produce an "Advanced Control Module" (ACM), which will enter series production in 2028. Additionally, the "Intelligent Power Distribution Module" (iPDM) will go into series production for another renowned automotive manufacturer by mid-year. The total order volume for both customer projects amounts to over €1 billion. Production for both projects will take place in Timisoara, Romania, with Lippstadt, Germany, serving as the lead development site.
