After several consecutive months of steep gains, commodity prices finished mixed in April. Energy commodities fell 6,1%, while non-energy commodities rose 0,6%.

The war in Ukraine has caused major supply disruptions and led to historically higher prices for a number of commodities. For most commodities, prices are expected to be significantly higher in 2022 than in 2021 and to remain high in the medium term. The price of Brent crude oil is projected to average $100/bbl in 2022, a 42 percent increase from 2021 and its highest level since 2013. Non-energy prices are expected to rise by about 20 percent in 2022, with the largest increases in commodities where Russia or Ukraine are key exporters.

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced that it has developed a new airflow-control technology that both visualizes and analyzes airflow from air-conditioning systems and temperature distribution for optimized room-wide comfort. The technology predicts airflows and temperatures, which vary according to the room shape and air-conditioning system layout, to determine how to minimize uneven temperatures and discomfort due to excessively strong airflow. Mitsubishi Electric also expects to use its new solution to advise building owners and designers on how to enhance indoor layouts for increased comfort.

Germany-based global tech provider Bosch and AWS announced a new partnership that will see Bosch develop a logistics platform for digital services on the AWS marketplace. The new marketplace offering will give freight carriers and forwarders around the world access to support for capacity utilization, order processing, monitoring goods flows and a host of other transportation and logistics functions.
